Description:
This is the strain pf13.4A+. Mutants at pf13 locus have a defect in the dynein outer arms. Flagella are short in exponentially growing cells but reach full length in stationary phase cultures. Motility is impaired, and it is not difficult to score. It was shown that the PF13 locus corresponds to a gene encoding a conserved protein involved in assembly of outer arm dynein.
