Description:
This is the original sr-u-2-60 mutant. This is an excellent chloroplast mutant, easy to score as resistant to up to 500 micrograms/mL streptomycin on agar (50-100 micrograms is sufficient to kill wild type cells). The mutation is an A to C change at base 474 of 16S rRNA gene (equivalent to E. coli 523).
