Description:
From a cross of arg2 mt+ x arg7 mt, selected as a potential diploid. Arginine-requiring progeny have been recovered from crosses to wild type mt+. This is the strain we normally distribute when a basic "wild type" diploid strain is requested. MUT-127 grows on nitrate, suggesting (somewhat to our surprise) that at least one of the parental stocks was not in the Levine (nit1 nit2) 137c background.
