This strain is difficult to score on 3-acetyl pyridine, but grows slower than wild type on minimal medium. Please see MUT-4337 and MUT-4338 for better isolates of this mutant. It was shown that the NIC15 locus corresponds to a gene encoding L-aspartate oxidase.
