Description:
The arg9 mutants are deficient in acetylornithine aminotransferase and require arginine, citrulline or ornithine for growth. The ARG9 locus was mapped to a position about 20 cM centromere-proximal to the mating type locus. This strain has acquired a suppressor. For a cleaner arg9 strain, see MUT-2958.
