Description:
The arg9 mutants are deficient in acetylornithine aminotransferase and require arginine, citrulline or ornithine for growth. The ARG9 locus is mapped to a position about 20 cM centromere-proximal to the mating type locus. This strain is suppressed. The arg9 shf2 double mutant MUT-2958 is still arginine-requiring.
