Description:
This mutant accumulates some 41S and some 54S subunits of chloroplast ribosomes, or poorly defined mixed subunit material, and is very deficient in 70S ribosomes. It was shown that cr7 and its allele cr6 fail to assemble to proteins of the large subunit of the chloroplast ribosome, one normally synthesized in the chloroplast and one in the cytoplasm.
