Description:
Cells with the pf17 mutation lack flagellar spokeheads and are missing five polypeptides of the radial spoke complex. This is a mutation in the gene encoding radial spoke protein 9. This mutation is a good marker for linkage group VII. Cells wiggle but don't swim, and are easily scored in crosses.
