From a series of four backcrosses of MUT-125 wild type mt+ to obtain a better cw15 mt- isolate, beginning with MUT-406. This cell wall deficient strain swims and mates better than its parent MUT-406. However, all cw15 cultures typically contain a high proportion of non-flagellated cells.
