Description:

This mutant was generated by insertional mutagenesis with the AphVIII gene in strain MUT-124, and selected by screening for alterations in the ratio of photosynthetic oxygen production to respiratory oxygen consumption. This mutant is defective in the assembly of the chloroplast ATP synthase and requires acetate for growth. It should not be maintained in high light intensity. The AphVIII integration site was identified.
