prk1-Δ50 cwd arg7-8 mt- is transformed with pARG7.8 to eliminate the Arg requirement. This prk1-Δ50 cwd mt- strain lacks phosphoribulokinase activity and protein due to a 50-bp deletion in prk1, and may serve as a host for transformation with engineered prk1 genes. It has been maintained with acetate medium in darkness since its isolation.
