Description:
It was recovered by transformation of wild-type 4A mt+ (MUT-4051) with a ble gene, which caused deletion of the Rubisco rbcS gene family (rbcS1 and rbcS2). It has a cell wall and flagella, and has been used in experiments that required transformation and genetic crosses. This strain has been maintained with acetate medium in darkness.
