Description:
This mutant was induced in a mt+ strain. It does not mate, and fails to agglutinate with cells of either mating type. It was subsequently shown to be a mutation at the SAG 1 locus. This locus is not linked to mating type, but its mutants are sex-limited, expressed only in mt+ cells.
