Description:
Using plasmid pSS1, which contains rbcS1 that encodes Rubisco small-subunit 1, and rbcSΔ-T60-3 mt- (MUT-4690) as the host strain, directed mutagenesis and nuclear-gene transformation were used to create an I58E substitution (ATC-GAG) in the Rubisco small subunit. This strain has been maintained with acetate medium in darkness since its isolation.
