Description:
R95-10A was recovered as a photosynthesis-competent revertant of rbcL-G54D mt+ (31-4E). It results from a pseudoreversion mutation that causes an D54A substitution (GAT-GCT), which results in a G54A substitution (GGT-GCT) in the Rubisco large subunit. The G54A substitution causes a decrease in Rubisco holoenzyme stability. This strain has been maintained with acetate medium in darkness since its isolation.
