This is a spontaneous "immortal" mutant (IM). It exhibited unique biophysical and biochemical characteristics compared to its progenitor ptx2 strain (MUT-4909) and original background strain (MUT-124) including higher biomass production under low light condition, higher oxygen evolution rate and production of protective compounds under certain conditions.
