Description:
This is a good isolate of the ery1b mutation, from a cross of MUT-460 to a wild type strain. It is resistant to 200+ micrograms/mL erythromycin on plates. It shows only very slight growth on 50 micrograms/mL clindamycin. This strain may also contain a pf marker; very few swimming cells were observed in cultures. The ery1 mutations were shown to alter a protein of the large subunit of the chloroplast ribosome, which was subsequently identified as L4.
