Originally called #140, nic-6; redefined as an acetate-requiring mutant based on spot tests, and listed as H8. This strain has been well-behaved in crosses; the acetate requirement is easy to score and it produces mostly complete tetrads. The basis for the acetate requirement hasn't been determined, so this mutation is primarily useful as a mapping marker.
