Description:
This mutant has abnormally long flagella, and swims slowly. The flagella are slow to regenerate after deflagellation. This is the original lf1 mutant, isolated by McVittie in the 137c wild type background. The LF1 locus corresponds to a gene encoding a calcium-binding EF-hand protein involved in the regulation of flagellar length. The protein is found in the cell body in the Length Regulatory Complex (LRC).
