Description:
This is a spontaneous mutant and is resistant to 10 micrograms/mL paromomycin. MUT-89 was obtained from a cross of the original mutant. This is a nuclear mutation, defining a locus on linkage group X, and is a useful genetic marker. Viomycin-resistant mutants were obtained that proved to be alleles at this locus.
