Description:
The ery1b mutation was isolated in the 137c background, induced by mutagenesis with ethyl methanesulfonate. The ery1 mutations were shown to alter a protein of the large subunit of the chloroplast ribosome, subsequently identified as the product of the RPL4 gene. The ery1b allele results in an L4 protein that is about 30% smaller than the comparable wild-type protein.
