Avena sativa Transformation

Avena sativa Transformation

Avena sativa is an annual herbaceous plant which is mainly concentrated in the temperate regions of the northern hemisphere. Avena sativa is primarily produced in Russia, Canada, the United States, Germany, China, etc. Avena sativa has the effect of lowering LDL cholesterol and raising HDL cholesterol, which is very effective in lowering blood lipids, and it is widely used in other industries, such as cosmetics and pharmaceuticals etc. Avena sativa is also a fiber-rich food base. Avena sativa is also a fiber-rich food base that can be processed into a wide variety of food products, which makes Avena sativa popular among consumers.

Lifeasible is a specialized plant research company, we aim to provide comprehensive plant genetic transformation research services. Based on our advanced technology platform and experienced research team, we can provide thorough and efficient plant genetic transformation technology services to meet the needs of a wide range of plant researchers. The Avena sativa genetic transformation technical support services we provide are dedicated to solving the problems in Avena sativa genetic transformation and improving the efficiency of Avena sativa genetic transformation, which can effectively help researchers promote Avena sativa breeding research.

What do we offer?

Avena sativa, as an important livestock feed and food crop, is of great importance in developing its resources and improving its quality. Conventional breeding methods for Avena sativa have a long period, and trait improvement is slow, so we need to utilize genetic engineering technology to accelerate breeding new varieties. Currently, our genetic transformation of Avena sativa mainly focuses on the gene gun method, Agrobacterium-mediated method, and pollen tube passage method.

  • Gene gun method. The gene gun method is a process of particle bombardment of cells, using high-pressure gas to transfer particles with target genes into the cell nucleus, and then the target genes are integrated and expressed. In the gene gun method, young Avena sativa embryos are used as the target for transformation. The target gene with the marker is transferred into them to obtain transgenic Avena sativa plants, and the transgene can be stably transmitted to the T1 and T2 generations. The gene gun method has the advantages of easy operation, short transformation time, and the ability to use various types of cells.
  • Pollen-tube pathway. Using the pollen-tube pathway to transduce exogenous DNA, target genes were introduced into fertilized egg cells through the pollen-tube pathway and then integrated into the genome of the recipient cells. By introducing DNA from Avena sativa with different ploidy into naked Avena sativa varieties through the pollen tube channel method, we obtained plants with other traits in terms of plant morphology, growth and development, resistance, and yield.
  • Agrobacterium-mediated transformation method. Agrobacterium-mediated transformation is currently the main genetic transformation method used; using the Agrobacterium transformation method, the target gene can be integrated into the DNA of the chromosome of the recipient cell and then regenerate transgenic plants through tissue culture technology.

Our research objectives

We have achieved Agrobacterium-mediated genetic transformation of Avena sativa forage after many years of research experiments by selecting suitable types of healing tissues and optimizing conditions for Agrobacterium transformation. So far, our research on the transformation of Avena sativa using Agrobacterium has mainly focused on Avena sativa resistance studies. Using genetic transformation, we have transferred resistance genes derived from their plants into Avena sativa so that these genes are stably expressed in Avena sativa, which can improve the drought and salinity resistance of Avena sativa, and further increase the yield of Avena sativa, expand the area of Avena sativa cultivation as well as improve heavy saline and alkaline land,. Thus, the economic and environmental benefits of planting Avena sativa can be improved.
