Confocal microscopy is an optical microscopic imaging technique that has become an essential tool for microscopic research in modern biology. The technique is based on fluorescence microanalysis, which can facilitate more useful imaging of living specimens, enable the automated collection of three-dimensional (z-series) data, and improve images of specimens obtained using multiple markers. Therefore, confocal microscopes are now widely used in life sciences, semiconductor inspection, and materials science.
The confocal platform at Lifeasible is dedicated to providing scientific and industrial customers with powerful technical support to help them better explore the functions of molecules in the cellular environment and realize a wide range of applications in molecular cell biology such as morphology, physiology, immunology, and genetics.
CLSM (Confocal Laser Scanning Microscopy)
LSCM is the most widely used confocal microscope and is the latest biomedical imaging instrument. It is based on fluorescence microscope imaging with a laser scanning device, through the use of ultraviolet or visible light laser fluorescence probe, as well as the use of a computer for image processing, not only fixed cells, tissue sections, but also the structure of living cells, molecules, ions can be observed and detected in real-time and dynamically.
SDCM (Spinning Disk Confocal Microscopy)
SDCM is not a pinhole but a high-speed rotating opaque disk with hundreds of pinholes arranged in a spiral pattern to scan the sample. It greatly improves the scanning efficiency, shortens the retention time of a single point by means of multi-point simultaneous scanning, and achieves high sensitivity imaging with the help of weak excitation light irradiation.
Lifeasible's confocal microscope platform is mainly realized in two ways, laser confocal (LSCM) and digital confocal (SDCM). Its applications include studies of cell morphology localization, stereo structural reorganization, dynamic change processes, and provide practical research tools such as quantitative fluorimetry and quantitative image analysis. We will develop the best solution for you based on the characteristics of these two confocal methods.
SDCM has a wide range of applications. In addition to performing experiments that can be done with basic conventional spot scanning laser confocal microscopes, the following can be accomplished, including but not limited to:
