Mushrooms as Anti-Aging Drugs

Inquiry

Aging is an inevitable process of functional impairment that increases an organism's susceptibility to various age-dependent diseases, especially neurodegenerative diseases (NDs). Presently there is no efficient drug or medication available that can treat NDs. Currently, the potent nutritional properties of edible mushrooms may help prevent the progression of NDs.

Lifeasible provides one-stop preclinical research services for age-related neurodegenerative disease drug development based on mushroom extracts. Our preclinical research services include the discovery and isolation of mushroom anti-aging compounds, in silico, mechanism research, etc.

Mushrooms as Potential Candidates for Treating Age-Related NDs

Neurodegenerative diseases are age-related diseases that are prevalent worldwide. The potent medicinal mushrooms' action against neurodegenerative diseases has been effectively considered in several animal models and cell line analyses. Natural products derived from mushrooms have shown to be beneficial in several AD-related mechanisms, including the inhibition of acetylcholinesterase (AChE) and β-secretase (BACE 1), the prevention of amyloid beta (Aβ) aggregation and neurotoxicity, and the prevention of Tau expression and aggregation, as well as antioxidant and anti-inflammatory potential.

Our Services

Lifeasible provides research services for the development of mushroom extract-based drugs for neurodegenerative diseases. Our services target a variety of neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's disease (AD), Parkinson's disease (PD), Huntington's disease (HD), multiple sclerosis (MS), motor neuron disease (MND), and Prion disease (PRD), etc., providing preclinical research services for drug development of neurodegenerative diseases. Our services include but are not limited to the following:

Extraction and separation services of mushroom active compounds.

In silico services

We offer a variety of in silico models to identify and select therapeutic-based targets to explore and treat NDs. Design of natural bioactive compounds using various computational programs such as molecular docking, virtual high-throughput screening, molecular dynamics simulations, quantum mechanical methods for drug design, support vector machines, and machine learning methods for NDs targets in silico medicine for NDs, improving the cost-efficiency, productivity, speed, and accuracy of the drug discovery process.

Mechanism research services

  • In vitro studies

We conduct mechanism research by constructing cell models of neurodegenerative diseases. We can construct different brain models from traditional cell culture to the latest high-throughput three-dimensional cell culture system to meet your various research needs.

  • Animal studies

We provide animal model construction services for neurodegenerative diseases to study the pathogenesis of NDs and find possible treatments. The animal research objects we provide include but are not limited to the following species:

    • Rodents: rats, mice, rabbits, pigs, etc.
    • Zebrafish
    • Drosophila
    • Primates

Advantages of Our Services

  • We have a computer-aided drug design platform for NDs to help accelerate the process of drug design, drug discovery, lead compound optimization, and target identification.
  • We are experienced in constructing three-dimensional cell culture models that can more accurately predict the effects of new therapies and cellular interactions by closely replicating aspects of the brain environment.
  • We have mature gene editing technology, with a high success rate in the construction of animal and cell models, and the constructed models are more realistic.
