Tissue Culture of Hericium erinaceus

Hericium erinaceus is an important resource for the development of pharmaceuticals and functional foods with broad market prospects and has been widely used in the pharmaceutical and food sectors. Currently. Artificial cultivation of the monkey head mushroom is being produced on a varying scale around the world. How to improve the quality and reduce the seed production time of Hericium erinaceus is crucial to the exploitation of the mushroom.

Lifeasible provides tissue culture services for Hericium erinaceus. We use tissue culture to produce Hericium erinaceus in the laboratory, which allows for rapid mycelial growth and shortens the seed production time in the natural environment. It also enables the selection of excellent strains of Monkey Head Mushroom and improves the medicinal and food value of Monkey Head Mushroom. We will support you in your research into artificial breeding of Hericium erinaceus and will be your most reliable partner.

About Hericium erinaceus

Hericium erinaceus (Bull.) Pers. is a mushroom of the genus Hericium in the family Dictyostelidae. The nutritional value of the monkey's head mushroom is very high. It is a high protein, low fat food, rich in polysaccharides, peptides and many essential trace elements. It is also effective in the treatment of digestive disorders such as tumours, stomach and duodenal ulcers, gastritis and flatulence. It is a highly nutritious, medicinal and edible fungus that has always been in demand. Not only is it highly nutritious, but the mycelium and seeds contain many active ingredients that have physiological effects such as antioxidants, anti-tumour, anti-aging, immunity, gastric mucosal protection and neuroprotection.

Our Services

Lifeasible offers Lion's Mane tissue culture services. We grow Lion's Mane mycelium by culturing it on agar or slant media to produce clean fragments of Lion's Mane mycelium cultures that can be used to produce grain strains or liquid cultures.

  • The Lion's Mane cultures we produce will be fully colonised on agar plates within 2-3 weeks. Monkey Mane's mycelium tends to be finer than other species.
  • As Monkey Mane is an aggressive species, we generally choose to grow the Monkey Mane on a malt agar and sawdust substrate to allow spontaneous protoplast formation. Typically, within a week or less, Monkey Mane will grow from tiny protoplasts to large, harvestable mushrooms. For those wishing to try growing these mushrooms at home, we offer the quick and easy Lion's Mane Mushroom Block - Ready to Grow Kit.
  • We can develop a complete tissue culture service to suit your experimental protocol on the Monkey Mushroom.

Advantages of Our Services

  • By growing mycelium on agar plates, we can easily visually identify contaminants, allowing the grower to cleanly transfer to a new agar plate.
  • Agar plates are also used to produce fungal clones. Clean fragments of fungal substrate can be placed on the agar to grow instead of germinating spores. This gives the grower the advantage of isolating potential contaminants (if present).
  • We grow monkey mushrooms with the advantages of low contamination rates, clean mushroom production, compact mushroom shapes, beautiful flower shapes, low deformation rates and high commercial rates.
