Tryptone Yeast Extract Broth (ISP Medium No.1) is used as a general purpose enrichment medium for not particularlyfastidious microorganisms.
Form
Cream to yellow homogeneous free flowing powder
Characteristic
Cultural characteristics observed after an incubation at 28-32 centigrade for upto 4 days.
Reaction of 0.8% w/v aqueous solution at 25 centigrade. pH : 7.0±0.2.
Storage
Store below 30 centigrade in tightly closed container and the prepared medium at 2 - 8 centigrade.
Instructions
Suspend 8 grams in 1000 ml distilled water. Heat if necessary to dissolve the medium completely. Dispense into tubes orflasks or as desired and sterilize by autoclaving at 15 lbs pressure (121 centigrade) for 15 minutes.
