Malt Extract Agar Base (w/Mycological Peptone),granulated is recommended for the detection, isolation and enumeration of yeasts and moulds.
Form
Cream to beige coloured granular medium
Characteristic
Cultural characteristics observed after an incubation at 25-30 centigrade for 48-72 hours.
Reaction of 5.0% w/v aqueous solution at 25 centigrade. pH : 5.4±0.2.
Storage
Store below 30 centigrade in tightly closed container and the prepared medium at 2-8 centigrade.
Instructions
Suspend 50.0 grams in 1000 ml distilled water and soak for 15 minutes. Heat to boiling to dissolve the medium completely. Sterilize by autoclaving at 115 centigrade (10 lbs pressure) for 10 minutes. Cool to 45-50 centigrade. If desired, to adjust acidic pH use 10% Lactic Acid. Mix well and pour into sterile Petri plates or dispense as desired. Avoid overheating.
