Potato Malt Agar is used for cultivation and maintenance of smut fungi and other phytopathogenic fungi.

Cream to yellow homogeneous free flowing powder
Characteristic
Cultural characteristics observed after an incubation at 25-30 centigrade for 40-48 hours.
Reaction of 10.5% w/v aqueous solution at 25 centigrade. pH : 7.4±0.2.
Storage
Store below 30 centigrade in tightly closed container and the prepared medium at 2 - 8 centigrade. Use before expiry date on the label
Instructions
Suspend 10.5 grams in 100 ml distilled water. Heat to boiling to dissolve the medium completely. Sterilize by autoclaving at 15 lbs pressure (121 centigrade) for 15 minutes. Mix well before pouring into sterile Petri plates.
