Widespread in the British Isles, this flower, an equivalent of D. praetermissa, exhibits a stocky dwarf habit with deep blue-tinged green leaves. Compact crowded flower spikes feature deep, rich violet-purple blooms with a characteristic diamond-shaped lip. It thrives and bulks up, doubling annually in ordinary, well-drained garden soil.
