This is a mixture of plants bloom during spring and early summer, after which their leaves wither, and they go dormant underground for the summer. The name "Dodecatheon," meaning "12 gods," sparks debate, suggesting either a connection to the healing powers of the 12 Olympian gods or an allusion to the possibility of having 12 flowers representing these deities.
