Description

This giant rosette plant, resembling Puya from the Andes or Echium wildpretii from Tenerife, shows evidence of parallel evolution. Native to the alpine zone of Mount Kenya, it has maroon to black flowers hidden within bracts and holds water in its leaf rosette for survival. In cultivation, it's extremely rare and thrives in temperate, highly oceanic climates.
