More Information

Description

This giant rosette plant, strikingly similar to Andean Puyas and separate evolutionarily from giant Echiums on the Canary Islands, showcases convergent/parallel evolution. Native to tropical eastern Africa's high mountains, Lobelia telekii forms a large rosette with narrow, hairy leaves, producing a tall inflorescence of creamy white flowers, up to 3 m tall, protected by silvery hairy bracts. Thriving in elevations between 3500 and 5000 m on Mount Elgon, the Aberdare Range, and Mount Kenya, it's technically hardy and, when cultivated, flowers faster. Seeds, collected at high elevation on Mt. Kenya, are best grown in large containers for protection.

Note

The number of seeds per packet is only an approximation, but will not vary much. Please inquire online before placing your order.
