Boasting sweetly-perfumed white, purple, and lavender flowers, this slender, tendriled climbing plant, resembling an Alder tree, is native to the Andean montane rainforests and cloud forests, thriving at altitudes between 1700 to 3200 m. Adapting well to temperate conditions, it offers nectar and pollen for various pollinators, including bees, butterflies, and other insects.
