Description

Hailing from Japan's Hokkaido, this bone-hardy perennial forms coarsely-toothed, kidney-shaped leaves in a rosette. In August, it produces stems with "night-sky" sprays of starry, dark purple-maroon flowers, thriving in partly shady wet spots near streams and ravines.
