A rare shrub with goblet-shaped carmine-red flowers amidst dark green, deeply-carved, soft fuzzy leaves, this plant, pollinated by hummingbirds, thrives in the cloud forests and paramo of the Andes. Seldom seen in cultivation, it becomes an outstanding specimen in cool temperate climates.
