Description

Thriving in a protected spot near a south or west-facing wall, this hardy Watsonia species exhibits strong erect stems with brilliant orange flowers in early summer, making it an excellent, constantly-producing cut flower. Capable of regrowing after freezing in extreme cold, it blooms from late spring to early summer in rich, well-drained soil with regular summer moisture. However, allowing it to go completely dry in summer may lead to dieback, with regrowth occurring with the first autumn rains. This species is among the hardiest Watsonias, forming long-lived, evergreen clumps.
