Soil Physical and Chemical Testing

Soil physical and chemical properties are usually considered important indicators for quality assessment. Soil moisture, capacity, and pore space are important soil physical factors that influence the water holding and dissolved mineral elements properties of the soil, the rooting and root absorption properties of plants, which in turn affect the soil fertility status and plant growth.

Soil chemical properties and processes are some of the most important factors affecting soil fertility levels. In addition to soil acidity and redox properties that have a direct effect on plant growth, soil chemical properties mainly affect plant growth indirectly through interventions on soil structural conditions and nutrient status.

Lifeasible provides a one-stop physical and chemical testing platform that frees researchers from the tedious pre-processing work. The customer only needs to provide the original sample, and the subsequent pre-treatment such as grinding and sieving of the soil sample, physicochemical index testing, and data analysis are all done by us. During the process, we strictly follow the standards, process and test the samples, and finally provide accurate test results.

General process

  • Determination of soil quality indicators such as chemical and physical indicators, including but not limited to soil cohesion, bulk weight, water-stable agglomerates, pH, soil thickness, etc., as detailed in the list above.
  • The affiliation degree is calculated based on the affiliation function of soil quality indicators, and the mathematical expression of the relationship between the evaluation indicators and the crop growth effect curve is the affiliation degree function.
  • Determine the weight value of indicators by factor analysis and make factor analysis with eigenvalue > 1 as the condition of selecting principal factors to get the eigenvalue and contribution rate of each quality factor principal component and calculate the common factor variance and weight value of soil quality indicators by factor loading matrix.
  • Calculate the comprehensive evaluation index value of soil quality and use the special formula to find the comprehensive evaluation value of soil physical and chemical indexes according to the principle of additive multiplication in fuzzy mathematics.

Application areas

  • Soil structure improvement
  • Soil biological activity and crop growth research
  • Soil moisture monitoring and movement simulation
  • Transport of contaminants and colloids in soils
