The importance of water in biology is mainly due to the physical and chemical properties of water that organisms rely on to maintain their physiological functions. For example, when plants transport water, they use hydrogen bonds of water to pull each other to form a water chain-like structure. Hydrogen bonds are formed in the ducts of plants that are specialized for transporting water so that water molecules do not fall to the walls of the ducts by gravitational force, and then water is transported upward by evapotranspiration. In addition, water is a buffering solution in living organisms, and the dissociated hydroxyl groups (OH-) and protons (H+) are used to neutralize small amounts of strong acids or bases, thus ensuring the structural integrity of proteins in cells.
There are various methods for testing and evaluating the physical and chemical properties of water. Lifeasible uses reasonable methods for testing the physical and chemical properties of water, which can accurately, objectively, and comprehensively reflect the current status of water quality and provide a scientific basis for water environment management.
Physical property indexes | Sensory physical property indexes | Temperature, chromaticity, smell and taste, turbidity, transparency, etc. |
Other physical property indicators | Total solids, suspended solids, dissolved solids, sinkable solids, electrical conductivity, etc. | |
Chemical indicators | General chemical indexes | pH, alkalinity, hardness, various cations, anions, total salt content, general organic substances, etc. |
Oxygen balance indexes | Dissolved oxygen, chemical oxygen demand, biochemical oxygen demand, total oxygen demand, etc. |
*Please stay tuned as we are constantly updating the list of indicators available for testing.
To ensure rigor and accuracy, we will generally use one or more mathematical methods for analysis in the water quality evaluation, taking into account the evaluation purpose and evaluation criteria. Including but not limited to these:
Before the cluster analysis, Lifeasible first uses the Skewness and Kurtosis method to test the normality of the data and perform logarithmic transformation if necessary. Also, to eliminate the effect of unit dimension, the data were then standardized to have a mean of 0 and a variance of 1. The KMO (Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin) test was performed on the data before the principal component analysis to monitor the suitability of the data for principal component analysis.
So Lifeasible does not only perform indicator testing, but we also use a variety of rigorous analysis methods to correlate and statistically analyze water sample testing indicators. Please contact our staff to submit any of your water sample requests.
