Our spirulina salts are a modification of the media from Aiba, S. & Ogawa, T. (1977) and Schlösser (1994). Our nutrient media is a modification of Guillard and Ryther (1962) original formula for growing freshwater and seawater strains of algae. This complete media kit includes everything to maintain pH and keep your spirulina happy and healthy!

Microalgae-extracted phycocyanin powder or liquid is the best natural colorant for food, beverages, and cosmetics products. Phycocyanin pigment enhances the nutritional and aesthetic value by adding proteins, antioxidants, and a fresh appearance to ordinary food and cosmetics products.

This is a common and widely used general enriched seawater medium designed for growing coastal marine algae. The concentration of the original formulation, termed "f Medium" (Guillard and Ryther 1962), has been reduced by half.

Astaxanthin is a group of ketocarotenoids containing metabolites of zeaxanthin and canthaxanthin. Astaxanthin is known for its antioxidant properties that help stave off cellular degradation. It has therapeutic applications in Alzheimer's disease, athletic muscle improvement, and skin rejuvenation. Its market demand and commercial importance are high owing to its applications in human, animal and aquaculture dietary supplements.

This is a good kit to start out with if you are curious about algae experiments, it is designed to give you everything you need for a science project either at home or in a classroom. This kit is good for two groups (n=4); one to be used as the experimental group and one to be used as the control group. This product makes 50 litres of nutrient-based water. By using this product for growing your algae you will have good rates of growth. You will also be able to maintain nitrogen concentrations and therefore, a high protein product. Furthermore, this product is complete with the vitamins that are necessary for phytoplankton to grow. This will assist in the overall health of your culture.

Phycocyanin consumption has increased due to its high concentration of minerals, chlorophyll, proteins, and vitamins. The amount of phycocyanin Light blue color required to impart color is not enough to disturb the senses. Most of the phycocyanin pigments are from extracts that have undergone enough processing, therefore, overcoming taste or smell that is present in the raw material."
