The yeast two-hybrid (Y2H) system allows the study of protein-protein interactions in living cells, and weak transient interactions between proteins can be sensitively detected by the expression products of reporter genes.. It is a highly sensitive technique that can be used to study interactions between proteins encoded by mammalian and plant genomes.
